OL3040 Team Project

Groupthink
Our group #6, I believe bypassed a few stages and went straight to Work and Productivity. We as a team established a high level of trust and structure, which in turn focused all our energy on productive work. Our team became self-leading and we each took different roles where no one was the leader but we all lead in our own way. From the very beginning on our first project and initial meeting we all made it clear of what our team goals are, that this would be a team effort not an individual effort, we matched our assignments with our own strengths and delegated distributed leadership on where each member excels. (Wheelan, 25) Also, with our team it was very important to encourage each other to be innovative. (Wheelan, 107)
My personal leadership domain in regards to this group and our assignments was Influencing. When it came down to doing the live presentations we were all nervous and I made it a point to take the lead and encourage the other two knowing we all have the same feelings but to put my nervous aside and be the cheerleader they needed. Per our text Strengths-Based Leadership, by Rath & Conchie (2008), attributes of Influencing leadership is; activator, command, communication, competition, maximizer, self-assurance, woo and significance (Rath & Conchie, 24). With all of those attributes above thru each of our assignments I was able to check off the lists especially the Woo stage. I love to be a cheerleader for others and encourage them to keep going and pushing their limits, stepping outside of their comfort zone.
